The Strand was THE hotel in Rangoon (when it was still called that). We met U Tun Yee on the porch over Rum Punches as the heat of the day subsided. We had been prowling the markets looking for special gems and stones. Not the sort of unknown quality that were surreptitiously pulled out of pockets, wrapped in an old piece of cloth.

The following morning we visited his workshop near the Shwe Dagon Pagoda where he showed us the most marvelous Kunzite crystals, some of which I’ve included here with unique, turban cut Green Quartz, and Thai Silver.

You are about to acquire a unique piece of art. The stones were mined by hand and shaped individually by skilled artisans. Every stone is different. The color and texture will vary from stone to stone depending on which mine or source they were derived from. Being one-of-a-kind pieces they will not exactly match each other or the pictures on the site. I try to balance stones as much as possible sorted by color and size.
